Promoting the community, services and shops in Browns Bay on Auckland’s North Shore
BBBA is an incorporated society (non-profit) set up by the local business people, to promote and benefit businesses in Browns Bay. They also work in partnership with North Shore City Council under Council’s Business Improvement Districts (BID) guidelines and has a working relationship with the East Coast Bays Community Board.
The Browns Bay Business Association (BBBA) committee wanted to update their previous site in order to visually engage visitors and encourage them to visit the area for business and pleasure. They required a business directory to display over 260 member profiles in addition to the ability to add blogs, events and regular activities. The main focus being to drive more visitors to the Browns Bay area.
The current site layout was examined and proposals for increasing engagement discussed. A suitable business directory was selected and the current photos and profile descriptions from businesses in the area extracted from the previous website and the members live websites.
Colours were taken from the logo to depict the seaside feel of the area and links made to their social media and partner event providers.
The events calendar can be updated along with the rest of the website by the town manager and all members can claim and update their own profiles which in turn link to their websites helping SEO.
“Our new website is fantastic.
… The thing with our website now that is really really good, is that our directory is on the website itself.
You click on the listings, and it takes you to that website which gives you information that is relevant. That had never happened before. It is being driven through our website. Our website is actually a portal for people to see what is happening in Browns Bay and what’s available.”
Bruce Taylor, Browns Bay Business Association Committee
